The Princeton Municipal Light Department provides electric power to approximately 1500 customers throughout the 35.85 square miles of Princeton, MA. PMLD is a municipally owned, rural co-operative that has operated since the early part of the 20th century.
The only power generated by PMLD is from the wind farm (currently inactive). Otherwise, PMLD purchases and distributes about 21 million KWh from Northeast Utilities, VPPSA, PSNY, various hydro stations (Webster, Dudley, Powder Mill, South Barre) in central Massachusetts and the spot market, when necessary. About 23% is from renewable sources.
PMLD's plant is valued at approximately $3.3 million (structures, poles, towers, overhead conductors, underground conduits, line transformers and transportation equipment).
More detail on PMLD's cost structure can be found in the latest DPU report.
