This past week’s ice storm damaged the entire electrical distribution system in town. Almost every electric service to all 1,500 customers must be repaired and reconnected.

Some of the hardest hit areas were Rocky Pond Road, Wheeler Road, Calamint Hill Roads, Gates Road, Westminster Road and Mirick Road. PMLD reenergized the town based on restoring power to the main line along Mountain Road. All of our radial feeders come off this important electric line. Our initial priorities included the, police/fire department, Town Hall, Wachusett House, and Thomas Prince School which acts as our emergency shelter.

PMLD requested mutual aid from access the sate and country. We presently have lineman from Holyoke, South Hadley, Taunton, and BSJ Power assisting us and we expect to receive more by this Sunday. The destruction from the ice storm across the state has severely strained the availability of municipal aid.

The following roads have electricity in the overhead electrical distribution system. This does not necessarily mean that your house service is receiving electricity yet. PMLD had to disconnect many electric services to ensure we reenergized the electrical distribution system in a safe and controlled manner.

Recommendations to get quickly reconnected:
